As Long Island's leading organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect, CAPS is proud to offer two
certification courses approved by the New York State Department of Education.
Both courses are offered monthly at CAPS' headquarters in Roslyn, New York;

Mandated Reporter Training
This two-hour certification course is required for mandated reporters of child abuse and maltreatment
applying for New York State certification or licensure. This includes chiropractors, dental hygienists,
dentists, optometrists, physicians, podiatrists, psychologists, registered nurses, school administrators/supervisors,
school service personnel, classroom school teachers, licensed clinical social workers, licensed master social workers,
mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, creative arts therapists and psychoanalysts.
Mandated reporters are individuals required by law to report suspected cases of child abuse or neglect when, in
their professional roles, they are presented with reasonable cause to suspect child abuse or neglect; a complete
list of mandated reporters can be found in Section 413 of the New York Social Services Law.
Mandated S.A.V.E. Act Training
This two-hour certification course, based on the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education Act (S.A.V.E.), is
required for all individuals applying in New York State for teacher, teacher assistant, pupil personnel, service
professional, school administrator or supervisor or superintendent of school with certification.
Schedule and Fee Information
Courses are held at our office in Roslyn, New York and begin promptly at their stated times. Latecomers will not be admitted.
You will leave with your certification. CAPS reserves the right to cancel a program if enrollment falls below 10 paid participants
or in the event of inclement weather. Call the CAPS office early during the day of a class if the weather is questionable. CAPS
classes fill quickly. Register early. Checks and money orders only. If you are registering for both classes, please send separate
payment for each class.
