Sexual Harassment

E-mail Print

Sexual harassment can be considered the “older cousin” of bullying. One difference, however, is that sexual harassment is a form of sexual discrimination and therefore against the law. It is an abuse of power carrying sexual overtones and, unfortunately, is not limited to the adult world.  Sexual harassment is considered any unwelcome behavior of a sexual nature that interferes with learning. It is serious and ranges in behavior from inappropriate sexual comments about a student’s appearance to criminal behaviors such as sexual assault.  CAPS addresses this issue in its Sexual Harassment Prevention program for grades 6-8.
